Device and Connectivity Information
In supporting Cabell County School's vision, the Technology Department deploys, maintains, and manages all student and staff technology devices. The environment for education today challenges students on multiple fronts, and Cabell Schools' tech tools provide current, state-of-the-art hardware and systems to enhance learning. Every Kindergarten through eighth-grade student is allocated an Apple iPad with an integrated keyboard for learning activities on and off-campus. Cabell School's high school students are issued an Apple MacBook Air for learning and accessing educational resources in school and at home. The 2021-2022 Acceptable Use Policy, STEP Device Agreement, and optional Damage waiver are linked below.
Hotspots for Learning
Cabell County Schools is offering Verizon mobile hotspots with unlimited data to district students who have no or inadequate Internet service at home.
Based on survey data from students and families, the district applied in August 2021 for funds and was awarded Federal Communications Commission Emergency Connectivity Funds in the fall. These funds must be utilized to provide students tools and services that help close the “Homework Gap.”
The district will deploy mobile hotspots at no cost for up to 2,500 students to improve Internet access outside of school. The hotspots are centrally managed and all data runs through a filter compliant with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA). This filter blocks inappropriate content while providing access to educational resources. The service will run through the end of the 2022 school year.
