Did you know that an appointment to a U.S. Service Academy is a fully funded education valued at $240,000 to more than $400,000? These prestigious institutions open the door to outstanding careers and leadership opportunities — and our West Virginia students are proving they’re more than capable of meeting the challenge.
🎓 Last year, students from Berkeley, Cabell, Greenbrier, Harrison, Jefferson, Marion, Mercer, Morgan, Ohio, Putnam, Randolph, Wayne, and Wood counties received appointments to U.S. Service Academies and Preparatory Schools. Many accepted and began their journeys this summer!
Now it’s your turn to learn more. Join us for Academy Day 2025, open to all students, parents, guardians, and school officials interested in U.S. Service Academies and ROTC programs.

’Twas the night before school, and all through the den,
Not a bear cub was stirring—not even Big Pennington.
Backpacks were hung by the doorway with care,
In hopes that the first day soon would be there.
The bus rolled up early, so shiny and bright,
The cubs tumbled in with pure morning delight.
Pencils and lunch sacks, big smiles to share—
