Our Band Instrument Fitting & Rental Event is happening Thursday, August 20th, from 4:30–6:00 PM at HEMS!
🎵 What to know:
• Students must arrive with a parent or guardian.
• Enter through the morning parent drop-off doors by the music classrooms.
• Parents can meet with our Music & Arts representative and get answers to questions about instrument rentals.
• Students may try out any of the 5 beginning band instruments:
🎼 Flute
🎼 Clarinet
🎼 Saxophone
🎼 Trumpet
🎼 Trombone
🥁 NEW THIS YEAR — PERCUSSION!
Students interested in percussion (mallet keyboards and drums) must begin on one of the 5 wind instruments. Students may try out for percussion during the 3rd Quarter grading period.
💜 IMPORTANT: This event is NOT required!
If your family is unable to acquire an instrument through Music & Arts or another new/used option, HEMS can provide an instrument at NO COST to your student. While HEMS instruments are widely used and cannot be replaced, we want to make sure every student who wants to be part of HEMS Band has that opportunity!

We’re excited to welcome our Bears back to another incredible school year! As we get into our daily routines, here are a few important reminders to help keep arrival safe, smooth, and efficient:
⏰ MORNING DROP-OFF
Students should NOT be dropped off before 6:45 AM at Parent Drop-Off. Please do not arrive earlier than 6:45 AM.
📝 TARDY AFTER 7:30 AM
If your child is dropped off after 7:30 AM, they MUST report to the Main Office to receive a tardy slip before heading to class.
🚗 SLOW DOWN, BEARS!
Please be mindful of the posted speed limit during school drop-off and pick-up times. Our parking lots and surrounding areas are busy with students, families, staff, and buses. Slow down and stay alert!
💜 A few extra seconds of patience can make a BIG difference in keeping our Bears safe!

Motorists traveling to or from Huntington High School via Norwood Road should expect significant traffic delays during morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal.
🚧 What’s happening?
A section of Norwood Road is currently reduced to one lane while crews continue work on the Route 10 sewer extension project.
📚 With school starting tomorrow:
• Consider using an alternate route, if possible.
• Allow extra travel time for your commute.
• Expect increased traffic and possible delays during peak school hours.
• Please slow down, use caution, and follow all posted traffic controls in the work zone.
⏰ Plan ahead and leave early! A few extra minutes can help make tomorrow’s commute safer and less stressful.
Please share this information with other families and motorists who may be traveling in the area.
