We are starting to fundraise so we can keep our Accelerated Reading (AR) program for next year. The cost for the program is about $3,000. In an effort to raise money, will be selling popcorn every other Friday for $1. Our first popcorn day will be tomorrow, February 20. We will always take extra donations to go to this great cause! 🍿

Two reminders:
1. The iReady MOY2 (middle of year 2) diagnostic for reading and math opens up Monday, February 16. Please encourage your scholar to try his/her best and take his/her time on the assessments. We are all so excited to see the growth from the last diagnostic.
2. If your scholar has Mrs. Petrie for art, please make sure he/she turns in the artwork for the fundraiser next week. Mrs. Petrie will be mailing that in at the end of the week (February 20). If you have any questions about this fundraiser, please reach out to Mrs. Petrie at rfloyd@k12.wv.us

The district is surveying stakeholders to see how we can improve. 4th and 5th grade students will take the survey. We would love to get as many responses as possible. If for some reason you DO NOT want your scholar to participate in the survey, please fill out the paper that is coming home today, and return it to school. A few items as we wrap up 2025:
We are still collecting items for our food drive. The class with the most items gets an ice cream party! We are taking items until December 19th.
Also, we are adding PJ day to hat day on Friday, December 19th.
Dave and Buster power cards will come home with students, December 18th.
We have an early release December 19th. There will be no after care December 19th.
Class parties are December 19th. Reach out to your scholar’s teacher with questions about class parties.

Reminder for Parents:
Due to the possibility of snow this Friday, we are asking that all Power Cards and Chick-fil-A order forms be turned in tomorrow, Thursday, December 11. This will ensure we are able to submit everything on time in the event that school is closed on Friday.
If school is in session on Friday, December 12, Santa’s Workshop will still be open from 8:15–11:00 AM for any last-minute shopping.

Join us Tuesday, December 16 for our annual Winter Bazaar. Our primary scholars (K, 1, & 2) will be singing at 6pm!
We are doing a food drive and collecting nonperishable items for the Barboursville Lion's Club. Items will go to food baskets for local families in need. The class that brings in the most items will earn an ice cream party in January. Items will be collected now through December 19th.
There will be NO aftercare today, 12/8. Please pick up your child at 12:15 pm dismissal. Thank you.
Santa’s Workshop is December 8-11.
Students can bring money and shop for friends and loved ones in our Santa Shop. The gifts will come home wrapped. All items are $2.50 each. Please send your scholar to school with a list of who they are buying for and money. Proceeds go to PTA for student activities!
As a reminder, our science fair is next Friday, December 12th. All projects done by the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade participants must be at school no later than 8:45am for set up and registration.
