Augmentative and Alternative Communication Awareness Month Celebrated at Davis Creek

Graduate Students from Marshall University’s Department of Communication Disorders celebrated Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Awareness this month by modifying battery-operated toys to be activated by students with all types of motor capabilities.

Under the instruction of Kelly Young, Speech-Language Pathologist and Assistant Professor at Marshall University, the graduate students learned a cost-effective way to adapt toys to meet the learning needs of many students. The graduate students were happy to donate the adapted toys to Anne Farley’s Special Education classroom at Davis Creek Elementary School.
