My name is Serena Collins and I'm so excited to introduce myself as the
new principal at Nichols Elementary. I am honored to serve the students
and teachers at this amazing school.
Over the past twenty plus years, I have worked as a teacher, an
instructional coach, and administrator, but I consider my most important
job to be that of a child advocate. I will spend a great amount of time
with your children, getting to know their personalities, learning
styles, and interests. I will celebrate their successes, small and
large. I will encourage them to do their best throughout the school
year. Not only am I excited to begin working with your children, but I look forward to the work we will do together.
As a product of Cabell County Schools, my life was deeply enhanced by my
classroom teachers. Not only did they provide me with a sound
foundation, but they inspired me to realize my dreams to become and
educator. My own education consists of a Bachelor of Science in
Psychology from the University of South Florida and a Masters of Arts in
Special Education.
On a personal note, I have been married for 28 years to my husband Scott
and have two children, Leslie and Samuel, who attend Marshall
University. As a family we enjoy traveling and spending time with our
three dogs.
Once again, I am so thankful to be a part of your wonderful community. I look forward to getting to know you and your children.
Warm Regards,
Serena Collins
Nichols Elementary Principal
