Cabell County Schools is proud to offer an in-person summer camp opportunity for students currently enrolled in a Cabell County public school and wishing to experience an immersion into Japanese culture.

The district's Japanese Summer Immersion Camp is free and open to students entering third through sixth grades during the upcoming 2021-2022 school year. Camp will be held Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Altizer Elementary School. There will be two different weeks of camp. Week one will take place June 22-25, and week two will take place June 29 to July 2. Students may only attend one week of camp.

Camp is open to the first 60 students registered each week. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Please be aware that completion of the registration form does not guarantee your child a spot at Japanese Immersion Camp.

The pre-registration link will go live Monday, May 24 at 7:00 PM. It is for pre-registration purposes only. Confirmation emails will be sent out in early June. You may pre-register your child at the following link:

During the week of camp, students will learn Japanese language and culture through in-person sessions with native speakers. Instructors will teach culturally authentic songs, dances, games, and art.
The Japanese Summer Immersion Camp is sponsored by Toyota Motor Manufacturing in West Virginia, Nippon Tungsten, and Cabell County Schools.
